What to expect from the QFX Blog

QFX Events has a ton of ways to stay on top of all our updates between social media and the newsletter. So, why do a blog? Me being… well, me… I just to say ‘Why not?’ Social media and newsletters are a wonderful thing, but the blog gives us more latitude to go further in depth. A place where we can outline detailed information about photos/autos and how the con will run to letting you learn more about our staff.

First, let me remind you tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased at TicketBud. There are a limited number of VIP passes still available. Remember ONLY the Ultra VIP guarantees you entry into the Friday night VIP Guest Party. For more information about badge tiers head over to the Badges page on our website.

Secondly, the QFX Tea Time Charity event begins on February 1st of this year. You must be registered and authorized to place a bit. If you want to have a chance at these once in a lifetime opportunities, please go to our page and fill everything out as soon as possible.

Now that I’ve given you the links to get tickets, let’s discuss the Convention Show Policies. Some of these might seem like “Common Sense” policies, but we still have to make you aware of them. Please look over the website link above for more details..

Weapons Policy

“Firearms, fireworks, flammable liquids or aerosol products, knives, daggers, swords, clubs, maces, other crushing or edged weapons, projectiles, air guns, longbows, crossbows are strictly prohibited. This includes prop guns as well. Other prop weapons are permitted if made of plastic, foam or other approved materials. Please see our Security page for more information.”

What does this mean?

In a nutshell, it means leave those props home or in your hotel room. They will not be permitted into the convention area at all. Now, we know this might make you worry about the perfect cosplay outfit - “What is Wynonna without Peacemaker?” She’s an amazing chick with a killer leather jacket. It’s also one less item to lose during the con as well.

Code of Conduct

“QFX Events is dedicated to providing safe and harassment-free environments for all persons in attendance at any of our events. We have a zero-tolerance policy regarding harassment, intimidation and discrimination. Full policy can be found on our Code of Conduct page.

What does this mean?

Truthfully, just be kind to those around you and enjoy the con. If you see something negative happening, please do not handle it yourself. Bring it to a security or staff members attention and we will ensure it is taken care of.

Tidbits

  • We will have water stations set up throughout the convention floor. We would recommend bringing a reusable water bottle with you for convenience but also to reduce your carbon footprint over the weekend.

  • You must have a ticket if you are over 12 years of age

  • Don’t share badges, it’s prohibited and if anyone on the staff notices it you might be asked to leave.

  • Retail sales and solicitation of tips, fees, donations are not permitted for any reason unless you have a booth, table or official allocated space by QFX.

  • Service animals are welcome! We recommend they wear official service animal attire for easy identification. Please ask permission of the animals owner before interacting with them.

  • Live Streams/Recording/Images at panels is ALLOWED. Just please use common sense when in high-traffic areas, at panels with people sitting behind you, when capturing your fellow con goers on film/video.

  • We do have a specific list of prohibited items. Please look them over as they will not be allowed into QFX East at all.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read through this post. The next blog will be the beginning of our interviews. I really hope you get to know each and every team member a little bit better. To stay up to date with this blog and all updates of the con, sign up for the newsletter at the bottom of our home page.

As always, we love to hear from you whether it be on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. Let us know what you are looking forward to, what you would like to see in the blog and any questions you have about the con itself.

** Until next time, this is Kimberly “Last survivor of the Nostromo” Amato, signing off. **
