Do's & Don'ts for QFX

Hello, faithful readers! Considering it is 72 days until the first every QFX convention in Tampa this May! I wanted to bring up some things from way back in January and add new information that has come to light in recent months.

First, let’s touch base on all the new things that have been happening lately.

AUTOS/SELFIES/COMBOS:

Autos/Selfies & Combos will go available for select guests. In most cases, you will still be able to buy them at the table in cash. However, it is always better to buy the tickets ahead of time if your guest is participating.

IMPORTANT: Dominique Provost-Chalkley will have a LIMITED number of autographs and combos available for sale. An even lower limit will be available during the convention. If you plan on getting this guests autograph, we suggest you purchase tickets online.

MEET AND GREETS: Want to spend time with a featured guest with a maximum of 15 other people? QFX Meet & Greets went on sale March 1st. The 30 minute event is another unique opportunity to enjoy conversation with the guest of your choice. Be advised, the website has details about participants, duo or solo and cost and rules. Please look it over before purchasing a ticket.

**NOTE: Meet and Greets for Dominique, Kat and their Duo are SOLD OUT.**

ABSENTEE AUTOS:

Want to get an autograph but you’re unable to attend QFX? We’ve got you covered. Some of our guests will participate in our Absentee Auto program. Those guests, costs and how to purchase will be available on our website.

Now onto the stuff that was posted in January, which feels like a lifetime ago. Apologies if this is something you have read before, but I felt it was necessary to remind our lovely audience once again.

WEAPONS POLICY:

“Firearms, fireworks, flammable liquids or aerosol products, knives, daggers, swords, clubs, maces, other crushing or edged weapons, projectiles, air guns, longbows, crossbows are strictly prohibited. This includes prop guns as well. Other prop weapons are permitted if made of plastic, foam or other approved materials. Please see our Security page for more information.”

What does this mean?

In a nutshell, it means leave those props home or in your hotel room. They will not be permitted into the convention area at all. Now, we know this might make you worry about the perfect cosplay outfit - “What is Wynonna without Peacemaker?” She’s an amazing chick with a killer leather jacket. It’s also one less item to lose during the con.

CODE OF CONDUCT:

“QFX Events is dedicated to providing safe and harassment-free environments for all persons in attendance at any of our events. We have a zero-tolerance policy regarding harassment, intimidation, and discrimination. Full policy can be found on our Code of Conduct page.

What does this mean?

Truthfully, just be kind to those around you and enjoy the con. If you see something negative happening, please do not handle it yourself. Bring it to a security or staff’s attention and we will ensure we handle it.

TIDBITS:

  • We will have water stations set up throughout the convention floor. We would recommend bringing a reusable water bottle with you for convenience, but also to reduce your carbon footprint over the weekend.

  • You must have a ticket if you are over 12 years of age.

  • Don’t share badges, it’s prohibited, and if anyone on the staff notices it, staff may ask you to leave.

  • Retail sales and solicitation of tips, fees, donations are not permitted for any reason unless you have a booth, table or official allocated space by QFX.

  • Service animals are welcome! We recommend they wear official service animal attire for easy identification. Please ask permission of the animal's owner before interacting with them.

  • Live Streams/Recording/Images at panels is ALLOWED. Just please use common sense when in high-traffic areas, at panels with people sitting behind you, when capturing your fellow con goers on film/video.

  • We do have a specific list of prohibited items. Please look them over as they will not be allowed into QFX East at all.

**Until next time, this is Kimberly “It's not what Valhalla did to me, it's what I do in Valhalla.” Amato, signing off.**
